Bristol Parts

We must realize that every time we take out our cars we are using the life of some part. We must also realize that a part often wears more with no use than with the our day to day needs of driving. It is really best if you drive these cars on some regular basis as opposed as keeping it locked up in the garage. I know a great deal of people feel its too rare to drive, I don’t believe in owning such a car and letting it collect dust. These cars are rare, but they are just cars after all.

Many parts have become more tricky to find but with the help of others we seem to find the necessary parts to keep them on the road. Most parts are still available, but there are a few that are downright unobtainable. There have been several parts that we asked for that were gone, and when the Bristol Cars had them built suddenly no one needed them. I have heard many people complain about the prices of parts for these cars and I often compare the prices for these parts to those of a modern day car. Often I find that Bristol parts are less expensive.

Here are a few ways to help preserve your cars. First is to start your car on a regular basis. This will keep an oil film inside the engine and allow the parts to get there necessary fluids circulated. Even fuel has a shelf life and must not be kept still and unused for long periods of time. Second is to drive the car to keep the brake system in good working order. This is one of the more expensive items to be rebuilt and in my opinion is a very important that it works at all times. Third is the electrical system, which can go to pot if it is not used. It will not take long for corrosion to set up in switches and lamps causing many hours of troubleshooting.

There are also a good number of updates for these cars and like anything use your discretion when fitting these items. I feel there that the original part in most cases is the best part. I also feel that the suppliers have to work together as there are often parts that I can supply that have not been found from others.

We must all remember that the goal for all of us is to keep Bristols on the road. If we can all agree on that lets all get on with life and enjoy our cars. After all that is what they are for, are they not?

Sincerely Yours,

Shawn Thomas
